Emily Land - CVT
Emily knew she wanted a career with animals, but not sure where right away. She started at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for Wildlife Management but didn’t enjoy the four year college life. Someone she met at UW suggested MIM (Medical Institute of Minnesota – now Argosy University) and she decided to join their Veterinary Technician program. Emily graduated with her Veterinary Technology certification in 1993.
She has family living nearby – a mom, brother and his little girls. At home she has three feline babies. George is an orange DSH and is fifteen years old. Alex is a black, grey and brown tabby DLH who is five and a half years old. Alex has survived a lot in life – he is blind and only has one eye. Finally, Stewart is an orange DSH who is two and a half years old.
In her free time Emily enjoys reading, canoeing, camping and many activities with her church. Within her church, Emily takes part in the Vision Team, celebrate recovery, bible study and the book club. Additionally, Emily has taken several trips to work with Habitat for Humanity.
Emily has many favorite things that keep her working at Hudson Road Animal Hospital. She enjoys the benefits and feels her bosses are very generous. She also appreciates that the technicians are all so willing to help each other out with their work schedules. Finally, Emily enjoys her coworkers – especially when they have fun together outside of work!

Abby Meyer - CVT
Working with animals was a natural for Abby. She grew up with many pets — dogs, cats, fish, gerbils, hamsters and guinea pigs. She attended three years at Hamline University and then decided to follow her heart to Medical Institute of Minnesota (now Argosy University) and received her Veterinary Technician degree.
Abby had two sons at home — Brady, who is nine, and Max who is four. Brady plays football, baseball, hockey and practices Kung Fu. He is very sensitive and caring. Max enjoys playing soccer and hockey. He is the energetic one of the family!
Abby also has many pets. Pacer is a two year old Pit Bull. She also has four cats named Neumann, Stella, Belle and Flip. Of course, the home would not be complete with pets for the boys, so she also has two hermit crabs.
In her free time, Abby enjoys reading, scrapbooking, working out and dancing.
Abby’s favorite things about working at Hudson Road Animal Hospital are her coworkers (who are fun to work with) and the relationships she has with our clients and their pets.
Cathy Smith - CVT
Before joining the Hudson Road team, Cathy was a photographer for six years. She wanted a more rewarding career and chose the veterinary field. Now photography is more of a hobbie and sometimes side job for her. In fact, many of the wonderful puppy posters and other images around the clinic are Cathy’s creations!
Cathy has a degree in photography and her degree in Veterinary Technology from Argosy University.
Cathy has two dogs — a Jack Russell cross mix and an American Eskimo cross mix — and several cats.
In her free time, Cathy enjoys any activity outdoors including camping, canoeing, hiking and capturing it all with photography.
Cathy’s favorite thing about working at Hudson Road Animal Hospital is all the animals. She loves seeing the client pets that come in and making a difference in the lives of rescue animals we work with.

Julia Crawford - CVT
Julia is our youngest team member. Julia is from Caledonia, MN and she graduated from Madison Area Technical College Veterinary Technician program in May 2006. She lives with a chocolate lab/chessie mix named Mara, and a rottie mix named Murphy. Julia's love of animals started at a young age; as a child she raised sheep and rabbits in 4-H. What Julia enjoys most about working at Hudson Road is teaching the puppy socialization classes and interacting with all the pets and their owners. As a veterinary technician, Julia's interests lie in behavior and nutrition. When Julia is not at the hospital she lives in Minneapolis where she enjoys cooking, reading, and walking with her dogs.
