Dr. Ronald Clappier

Dr Ronald Clappier

Dr. Ron Clappier is president and owner of Hudson Road Animal Hospital. His special interest areas are dermatology, internal, and geriatric medicine.

He attended the College of St. Thomas and then received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Clappier was awarded an internship, but decided to go into a multi-doctor practice in St. Paul upon graduation.

Dr. Clappier came to Hudson Road Animal Hospital in 1974 and purchased the clinic in 1982. When Dr. Clappier first purchased the clinic there were only a few hundred clients, but now it has grown to approximately ten thousand clients. Dr. Clappier feels his goal of providing comprehensive personalized care has helped achieve that success.

He and his wife, Jane, have two sons, John and Steve, and a cat named Ariel. They have lived in Woodbury since 1981. Dr. Clappier is active in the community and is a member of Guardian Angels Church and Knights of Columbus. He and his family enjoy fishing, traveling and spending time on their boat. An avid sportsman, Dr. Clappier appreciates the challenges and opportunities that living in this area offers.

Dr. Michael Westfall

Dr. Westfall graduated from Iowa State University in 1979. He moved to the Twin Cities to take a position with Bloomington Veterinary Hospitals, PA until June 1980 when he joined Hudson Road Animal Hospital.

He graduated with an MBA from the College of St. Thomas in June 1985. He is Vice President of Hudson Road Animal Hospital.

Dr. Westfall is a member of Guardian Angels Church, where he has been active in the adult choir, as a sacristan, usher, eucharistic minister, faith formation interviewer, finance council member and Trustee. He served on the Board of Directors of the St. Croix Animal Shelter. Dr. Westfall is the Committee Chairperson for Explorer Post 702 and he active with his son in Troop 71. Dr. Westfall is President of the South East Metro Sharks Swim Team and is an official for Minnesota Swimming where he holds the rank of Referee.

Professionally, Dr. Westfall has served as committee chair for the Continuing Education Committee and the Drug and Supply Committee for the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association. He has also been an active participant in the Governmental Affairs Committee for more than twenty years. He is a frequent mentor for freshman veterinary students at the University of Minnesota and has hosted several preceptors while at Hudson Road. He is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association, American Heartworm Society and the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Westfall's medical interests are in the areas of behavior, dental care, feline medicine and surgery and geriatric pet care.

Dr. Westfall lives in Woodbury with his wife, two children and Max, a St. Bernard. He looks forward to enhancing the bond between you and your pet.

Dr. Carolyn Fletcher

Dr. Fletcher grew up in southwest Minneapolis. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Biology (1980) at the University of Minnesota, she emmigrated to Israel. 

In Israel, Dr. Fletcher was married and raised her son Adam. For 14 years she raised dairy calves, then in 1994 she and Adam returned to the United States where Dr. Fletcher attended the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed her DVM in 1998.  Working with Hudson Road Animal Hospital provides Dr. Fletcher a combination she loves-the analytical and problem solving skills with the physical touch of the animals and interaction with people.

Dr. Fletcher lives in St. Paul with Maggie, a Schnauzer Mix, Chewie, a Yorkie Mix and two orange cats, Tony and Stan the Man. 

In her spare time, Carolyn enjoys distance running, gardening, downhill skiing, music and dancing. She has completed the Boston, Twin Cities, Rochester and Grandma's Marathons. 

Carolyn feels lucky to have found a career choice that allows her to challenge herself with medical and surgical problems, while being a part of the unique relationship between a family and their beloved pets.

Dr. Jodene Beck, CVA

Dr Jodene Beck

Born in Winona, Dr. Beck completed her undergradate at the University of Wisconsin (River Falls) in 1996. She graduated from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2000. She joined Hudson Road Animal Hospital shortly after graduation.   After growing up with dogs and horses, becoming a veterinarian was all Dr. Beck ever really considered doing as a career!

Dr. Beck resides in River Falls, WI with her husband, Jay and thier son, Tustin.  Of course, they also have a very happy Golden Retriever named Elvis! 

Dr Beck is the Post Advisor for Exploring Post 702 jointly sponsored with the Humane Society for Companion Animals. She enjoys educating Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and other young people about "The Benefits of Pet Ownership" and "Being a Veterinarian". Dr Beck is a frequent leader for the Humane Society for Companion Animals Adventure Camp.

The part of veterinary medicine that she enjoys most is being able to make a difference in not only the animal's quality of life, but the owner's as well. She has special interest in complementary medicine and was certified in Veterinary Acupuncture in 2006.

Her hobbies include working out, hiking and trail riding. She has completed the Twin Cities Marathon and the Castle Rock Triathalon.

Dr. John Clappier

Dr John Clappier

Dr. John Clappier is the newest doctor to join the HRAH team. He prefers to go by Dr. John so that he is not confused with his father (Dr. Ron Clappier). John graduated from the University of Minnesota's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2008, and also received an undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences.

Dr. John lives in Woodbury with his kitty, Forest. John adopted Forest from the Animal Humane Society at 8 weeks of age. He is an energetic happy kitty who keeps John company when he is not at work. Forest loves hanging out at Hudson Road Animal Hospital because he has lots of friends there.

In his free time, John enjoys running, basketball, and website design. He participates in 5k races around the metro area and plans to run in a marathon some day.

John's favorite part of Veterinary Medicine is the investigation. He likes working through cases and solving pets' problems. He looks forward to working with you and your pet, and helping solve whatever problem ails them.
