Good information can be hard to find on the internet. We have compiled a list of websites to help answer your questions. These websites have accurate information and have a wide range of topics. If you have a medical question, please call to speak to one of our veterinarians.

Pet Care Information

  • My Vet Online - This is an associated website of ours which has valuable information pertaining to animal health.
  • Veterinary Partner - This website is a division of the Veterinary Information Network (VIN). They provide invaluable information about common diseases in pets.
  • AAHA's Pet Library - The American Animal Hospital Association has a large number of pet care articles available on their website.
  • AVMA's Website - The American Veterinary Medical Association
  • Cornell Feline Health Center - Cornell University's website provides cat resources and information about their mission.
  • Feline Instructional Videos- Cornell University's website also contains a collection of online client instructional videos for your cat.
  • PetCARE Television- Hudson Road Animal Hospital and PetCARE TV present On-Line Video Library for information for pet owners.

Animal Rescue Links

  • Second Chance Animal Rescue - We receive a great number of rescued animals from Second Chance Animal Rescue. We provide services for the rescued animals such as grooming, spay/neutering, declawing and wellness exams. Their website displays adoption information, a large pet list, information about foster care and information about their cause.
  • PetShelter Network - At the PetShelter Network, you can search for cats and dogs in the United states and canada. Pick a breed, age, gender and region to view adorable pictures and stories of pets looking for a home.
  • Petfinder.com - On Petfinder.com, you'll find cats and dogs but also pigs, birds, rabbits, reptiles and horses abailable for adoption from the U.S. shelters and rescue groups.
  • House Rabbit Society - The nonprofit House Rabbit Society has online adoption listings.
  • Hugs for Homeless Animals - Go to Hugs for Homeless Animals and search for an animal shelter or rescue group newar you. Then contact the organization to find out if they need foster care volunteers.

Labs and Lab Equipment We Utilize

  • Idexx's Website - Idexx provides much of our lab equipment and in-house lab tests. Their website explains their products and services along with recent animal health news.
  • Antech Diagnostic Labs - We send almost all of our lab tests, cultures and bloodwork to Antech. They come to our hospital daily to make pick-ups. Their website features the services they provide and a limited amount of information pertaining to animal health.
  • Heska's Lab - We send out allergy lab tests to Heska. Heska's website includes pet health information, product information, and their company information.
  • University of Minnesota's Diagnostic Lab - We also send lab samples out to the University of Minnesota. We also do some radiograph consultation with their radiograph experts. Their website explains their lab, explains their services, lists their staff members and offers access to laboratory results.

  • Animal Emergency Clinic - We recommend the Animal Emergency Clinic to all clients for after-hours emergencies. They are an AAHA-accredited veterinary hospital dedicated to "providing excellent service to small animals in the Twin Cities metro area during the hours when your family veterinarian may not be available."

  • AVMA's Website - AVMA supplies many brochures to us on pet care for your animal.

  • Hill's Homepage - Hills provides our well-known Science Diet pet food. Their website features their canine and feline food products along with their company information.
  • Fort Dodge - A well-known company that supplies some of our drugs and vaccines.
  • Pfizer Animal Health - A very large company that supplies many of our drugs. They are the bringers of the well-known Rimadyl that eases arthritis problems.

  • Waltham - Waltham deals with the importance of nutrition for animals along with various pet care and behavioral information. Their website outlines information on dogs, cats, fish, birds and horses. Their website contains a wealth of useful information about these animals along with information about their company.
  • Hill's Homepage - Hill's deals with pet nutrition because they provide many different types of food for your pet. Their site includes product information, information on nutrition and company information.

  • Pet Dental Care - Sponsored by Hills, this website provides invaluable information pertaining to dental care for your pet.
  • National Animal Poison Control Center - This company helps clients and veterinarians after your pet has ingested something deadly. This website explains their service.
  • Plants That Are Toxic to Animals - This website is hosted by the University of Illinois and has a searchable database of toxic plants.
  • AKC Breeds of Dogs - Wondering what breed of dog you have? The AKC is a nationally known association and their website explains all the registered dog breeds and their characteristics. This is an excellent resource for future dog owners.
  • Cat Fancier's Association - This association features all the different breeds of cats that are registered. This is an excellent resoure for the future cat owner.
  • PetLoss.com - We hope it doesn't come to this, but if your pet dies, Petloss.com is there to help. Mourners can post the names of their departed pets and take part in Monday evening candle-lighting ceremonies. Message boards and a chat room offer help with dealing with our grief or concern over pet illness, and there are pet loss hotlines to get counseling over the phone. This is a comforting site for animal lovers dealing with death or sickness.
  • Petadivsor - Friendly Dr. Ron has plenty of tips and how-tos for keeping your dog or cat helthy and safe. His site is well-designed and easy to navigate. Videos demonstrate how to clean ears, trim toenails or muzzle a dog, among other things. Go to the area labeled Browse for medical advice and information; it's a good start, but some entries have limited information. The How-To section is another important area, focusing mainly on preventive care. This is an excellent website for learning how to keep your pet healthy and prevent disease.
  • Alternative Veterinary Medicine - This website is a public service run by two veterinarians. The site offers alternative health care for pets. Click on an illness, such as arthritis, epilepsy or skin disease for suggested treatment options involving diet, herbs and other althernatives to drugs. But this is not an online how-to manual - the vets don't give specific doses for herbs and will not answer e-mails seeking diagnoses. This website is good for learning about alternative medicine for pets.
